Their serious attitude towards work does not overpower their festive spirit, demonstrated by the strong Catalan cultural heritage. When people speak of Catalans, they use concepts of seny and rauxa, sensibleness and rashness. These notions make reference to a strong sense of responsibility as well as an intensive way of experiencing pleasures in life. Catalan people are modern, yet they mantain their ancestral traditions such as that of Caga Tió, a tree trunk wich is not burned and kepts as part of the Christmas celebration. On Christmas day, this trunk gives sweets to the children.
